We Can Not Thank You Enough
Interview and Article by Andrea Jackson, Executive Director, The 200 Club of Bergen County
The 200 Club of Bergen County would like to thank and recognize the Teaneck Volunteer Ambulance Corp (TVAC). TVAC is one of the largest all-volunteer organizations in Bergen County with approximately 120 members strong!
We recently reached out to Ms. Jamie Elkin, a lifetime member of TVAC. The following is what we learned.
Ms. Elkin let us know “they are currently doing all that they can under very difficult circumstances.” Ms. Elkin also told us that, so far, TVAC is coping with the high volume of calls. However, because they are also having to adapt and adhere to the changing CDC and DOH guidelines, this makes doing so even more challenging.
With needed supplies being very limited and in an effort to conserve on masks, they are assigning masks to the individual members; this is not, obviously, ideal. Additionally, the tedious job of cleaning that must be done after every suspected Covid 19 call is very time consuming and increases their workload.
However, as Ms. Elkin told us, they are all adapting and working hard to ensure they can be there for all that need them. And, they continue to do everything they can to serve others and the community despite knowing that they do so at great risk to themselves.
The best of the human spirit is often seen in moments of crisis. The 120 members of the Teaneck Volunteer Ambulance Corp are shining examples of this. So to all at TVAC, you have our heartfelt gratitude, appreciation, and support. We can never thank you enough for being there for us in this crucial time of need.
